About The Position

National General, a part of The Allstate Corporation, is seeking an Auto Field Appraiser in the El Monte, CA or Pasadena, California area. This role is responsible for assessing vehicle damage in the field, conducting on-site inspections, and accurately documenting losses. The appraiser will write repair estimates according to company guidelines, take detailed photographs of vehicle damage, and manage the entire estimating process, including supplements and negotiations with repair facilities and other vendors. The position requires efficient scheduling and completion of inspections, thorough documentation, and clear communication with customers and partners, with a strong emphasis on exceptional customer service. Prior insurance carrier experience in an auto field appraisal or estimating role is required, along with hands-on experience handling supplements and repair negotiations. Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software such as CCC, Audatex, or Mitchell is necessary. The role demands strong field assessment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while delivering accurate estimates and excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Prior insurance carrier experience in an auto field appraisal or estimating role

  • Must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating if working from home

Responsibilities

  • Interprets regulatory compliance and fair claims practices
  • Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files
  • Applies mastered content in interpretations of all policy types written by the company and assists leadership in formal and ad hoc training
  • Exhibits mastery estimating fundamentals in order to create estimates of damages on 1st and 3rd party material damage losses of all severities
  • Builds mastered relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Assess vehicle damage in the field
