About The Position

National General, a part of The Allstate Corporation, is seeking an experienced Auto Field Adjuster to join their field estimating team supporting the Durham, North Carolina market. This is a territory-based, field position requiring candidates to reside within 30 miles of Durham. The role involves inspecting vehicles, evaluating losses, and preparing or auditing accurate estimates for auto or specialty lines claims. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CCC ONE estimating software, possess strong negotiation and time management skills, and have a customer-focused approach. This position also contributes to team success through training, mentoring, quality control, and providing technical guidance on material damage claims. An active adjuster's license is strongly preferred, with a willingness to obtain licensure shortly after hire if not currently held.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles, evaluate losses, and prepare or audit accurate, comprehensive estimates for both first- and third-party material damage claims across auto or specialty lines.
  • Create or audit estimates of damages on 1st and 3rd party material damage losses of all severities.
  • Negotiate settlements, make settlement payments and document all activities in the most complex of files across multiple lines.
  • Evaluate settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices, and make decisions on the best option.
  • Build mastered relationships with both internal and external customers across multiple lines.
  • Support team success through training, mentoring, quality control, and providing technical guidance on material damage claims.
