Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Graduation from an appraisal school accredited by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or significant body shop experience required
- Massachusetts Auto Damage Appraiser license required
- A minimum of two years writing auto damage appraisals required
- Experience with auto damage estimating software required
- Valid driver’s license required
Nice To Haves
- Additional vehicle repair industry training preferred
- Experience using office software such as MS Office preferred
Responsibilities
- Complete auto damage appraisals using appraisal estimating software
- Accurately assess auto damage and the required parts, procedures, and materials to return vehicles to pre-loss condition
- Negotiate vehicle repair costs with repair facilities
- Perform quality reviews of appraisals and estimates written by external appraisers
- Identify total loss vehicles and initiate salvage procedures
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations, repair techniques, and vehicle technology
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with body shops, other repair facilities, and independent auto appraisers
- Communicate promptly and effectively with claim stakeholders including customers, agents, Claims staff, and repair facilities
- Explain vehicle damage and claims processes to vehicle owners in accessible language
- Some roles may require instate travel along with providing required maintenance of a fleet vehicle
- Other duties as required
