About The Position

First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Auto Casualty Claims Supervisor to join their growing team. This role involves the direct supervision of the Auto Casualty Claims unit, ensuring compliance with state-mandated claims handling guidelines, and overseeing the proper investigation and conclusion of claims. The position requires monitoring production, staff development, and the quality of files. This is a hybrid position after training, and the company is looking for career professionals who are dedicated to their work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years auto liability claims, PD, Casualty Claims and/or supervisory experience
  • Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling
  • Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Good leadership, training and development skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim
  • Hybrid position (after training is complete)

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years managing litigated personal auto files
  • Non-Standard auto claims handling experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and provide direction to the Auto Casualty Unit staff members.
  • Conduct file and diary reviews to monitor adjuster work, ensure appropriate investigation, documentation, and fair claim settlement practices, and maintain company quality standards.
  • Place appropriate authority level on claim files based upon investigation of facts and approve settlement checks within authority.
  • Review reports, design and support the implementation of procedures to improve claim settlement and customer service levels, and ensure desired quality and quantity levels are maintained.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of procedures to assure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Determine training needs of the department and establish and participate in programs to ensure training needs of personnel and processes.
  • Work with staff relative to any suits drawn on cases with respect to litigation handling.
  • Develop and manage a cost-effective defense strategy.
  • Identify Systems issues/problems/suggestions for enhancements.
  • Manage the administrative functions of the unit, including reviewing, providing direction and assigning new losses, screening and selecting candidates, setting performance objectives and monitoring performance results, conducting performance appraisals, and completing reports as necessary.
  • Daily review of files for payment approvals over adjuster authority and the transfer of files to appropriate areas (SIU, Litigation, Total Loss, Subrogation, etc.).
  • Conduct unit meetings.
  • Review and respond to Department of Insurance complaints.
  • Review and direct claim activity on customer inquiries.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
