About The Position

Gerber Collision & Glass is seeking qualified Auto Body Technicians for future opportunities in the Abilene Area, TX. This role is crucial for providing an exceptional customer experience by meticulously assessing and repairing vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition. The technician will disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles, contributing to the company's promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence. Working collaboratively with team members, the Auto Body Technician will help achieve the repair facility's KPIs and act as a Brand Ambassador for The Boyd Group.

Requirements

4-5 years minimum prior collision repair auto body experience.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Responsibilities

Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage, or mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
Remove damaged sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
Replace or repair glass and windshields.
Replace or repair interior parts.
Weld and attach or fit parts into place.
Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent.
Complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution of work.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
