About The Position

ROCK is seeking an Autism Therapist Level 1 to join their team. This role involves designing and implementing behavior programs using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to enhance clients' quality of life. The therapist will work directly with families in various environments (virtual, center, home, community) under the supervision of a Manager of Autism and Behaviour Services and a Clinical Supervisor (Registered Behaviour Analyst). Responsibilities include data collection, documentation, preliminary data analysis, training others using the BST model, and collaborating with Peer Support Providers. The position focuses on providing support and supervised intervention to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Dual Diagnosis, utilizing Progressive Applied Behaviour Analysis approaches and Neuro-affirming care practices. Interventions will cover areas such as communication, social skills, daily living skills, behavior management, play, and vocational skills. The therapist will participate in individualized and group interventions, potentially collaborate with other disciplines, and maintain a flexible schedule to meet client needs. Client safety and adherence to ROCK's principles are paramount.

Requirements

At least two and a half years of experience delivering services using ABA with children and youth with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, up to age 18, under the supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (R.B.A., Ont).
Experience working with and implementing programming for children and youth with communication challenges, social skills need, daily living skills challenges, play and leisure skill needs, vocational skill needs, children and youth who engage in challenging behavior, etc.
Experience participating in family and child centered practice and collaborating with families.
Experience delivering both group and individual ABA interventions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced work environment are essential.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a treatment team.
Proficient in the use of technology and working in a virtual environment; MAC OS operating systems; strong MS Word and Excel competencies are essential.
Reliable transportation for traveling within the Halton Region in alignment with the program needs.

Nice To Haves

Preference for Post graduate diploma in the Behavioural Sciences field (e.g., Behaviour Sciences and Technology, or Autism and Behaviour Sciences diploma).
Preference for working towards master’s degree in ABA.
Experience running workshops is an asset.
Training and experience implementing Project ImPACT and/or Naturalistic Developmental Behaviour Interventions is an asset.
Expertise in the use of PowerPoint is an asset.

Responsibilities

Design and implement behaviour programs aimed at enhancing the client's quality of life.
Work under the supervision of the Manager of Autism and Behaviour Services and the Clinical Supervisor (Registered Behaviour Analyst).
Ensure services are delivered in accordance with the principles and science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Work collaboratively with the team, other disciplines, and families using a virtual platform, in center, classroom, home or community, as required.
Responsible for data collection, documentation preparation, preliminary data analysis, training others using the BST model, and working collaboratively with Peer Support Providers.
Provide support and/or supervised intervention to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Dual Diagnosis using Progressive Applied Behaviour Analysis approaches and Neuro-affirming care practices.
Utilize the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to directly support the needs that children/youth have, in the areas of communication, social/interpersonal skills, daily living skills, behaviour management/self-regulation, play and leisure skills, vocational skills, etc.
Participate in the delivery of both individualized and group interventions under the supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (R.B.A. Ont).
Conduct collaborative sessions with ROCK service providers of other disciplines as needed by the program.
Maintain a flexible work schedule to effectively accommodate the needs of clients and families receiving services through ROCK.
Prioritize client safety by adhering to established policies and guidelines that ensure consistency in the delivery of quality and safe care.
Identify and report any client safety incidents.
Support client-centered care by adhering to ROCK’s principles.
