About The Position

Provide technical assistance in the area of autism spectrum disorders. This role is for the 2026-2027 School Year and involves participating in multidisciplinary team assessments, conducting parent interviews and student observations, and assisting with the location and use of appropriate assessment instruments. The consultant will also help share assessment results with parents, participate in IEP implementation including goal development, placement decisions, and program development to ensure skill generalization and smooth transitions. Additionally, the role involves acting as a liaison between school staff, families, community, and other service agencies, and assisting in the development and implementation of programs to modify behavior, improve communication, and enhance student performance. The consultant will also identify inservice needs and provide training to school personnel, families, and the community, and participate in the review and monitoring of services. Training to increase knowledge and improve ability to fulfill responsibilities for students with autism is also a component of this role.

Requirements

  • TSPC licensure (Oregon Special Education Generalist, School Psychology endorsed license, or related field); or other board licensure (Oregon Health Board of Examiners' Speech Language Pathology license, or related field); or ODE authorization.
  • Must meet professional competencies required by the Oregon Department of Education.
  • Successful experience providing comprehensive evaluations and data based interventions to students with autism spectrum disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team assessment.
  • Conduct parent interview and student observations, screening, and assessment as appropriate.
  • Assist in location and use of appropriate assessment instruments.
  • Assist team with sharing of assessment results with parents.
  • Participate in IEP implementation: Assist in location and use of appropriate assessment instruments, conduct assessments as appropriate, participate in development of goals and objectives, assist in placement decisions, provide evaluation and monitoring as appropriate, assist in program development and implementation to ensure generalization of skills across people, places, events, and time, assist in program development and implementation that provides for transition across programs and service providers.
  • Act as liaison between school staff, family (care providers), community, and other service agencies.
  • Assist in development and implementation of programs designed to modify the student’s behavior and improve student communication and language ability and improve student performance in regular programs with curriculum modification.
  • Assist in identification of inservice needs for school personnel, family, and community.
  • Provide inservice training to school personnel, family, and community.
  • Assist and participate in review and monitoring of services.
  • Assist and participate in training to increase knowledge and improve ability to fulfill responsibilities of teacher of students with autism.
