About The Position

The Creekside School is seeking compassionate, dependable, and energetic individuals to serve as Autism Paraprofessionals. In this role, you will provide everyday support to students with autism and developmental disabilities, including those with extensive support needs. You will be a steady source of support, helping students participate in lessons, communicate their needs, and navigate transitions. You will join a collaborative educational team that recognizes each student’s strengths and celebrates progress. The Creekside School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through person-centered support, meaningful relationships, and evidence-based practices, promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion. Our school provides individualized educational and therapeutic services that support communication, academic, social, behavioral, and life skills in a learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and supported.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Compassion, dependability, and a commitment to supporting students with autism.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and professionalism in a dynamic educational environment.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, and supporting students throughout the school day.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
• Experience in special education, behavioral health, childcare, or human services.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
• Experience implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Experience using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with autism and extensive support needs.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, independence, and positive behavior throughout the school day.
• Assist with academic, behavioral, recreational, vocational, and daily living activities.
• Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment.
• Collect behavioral and academic data as directed.
• Collaborate with teachers, behavior professionals, therapists, and families to support student success.
• Support students during classroom instruction, community-based instruction, school activities, and transitions.
• Assist with personal care and mobility needs when appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow school policies, IEPs, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Participate in required training, staff meetings, and professional development.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative school culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
