About The Position

Authorization and Benefit Verification Specialist Under the direction of the Insurance Manager, the Authorizations Specialist performs duties directly responsible for obtaining medical authorizations for scheduled and non-scheduled procedures to ensure appropriate reimbursement for patient procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain information to respond to difficult patient and medical insurance inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Generate and review schedules in accordance with timelines and protocols.
• Contacts insurance companies, or utilize web-based insurance resources, to obtain verification and authorizations for medical procedures.
• Communicate with internal departments, referring physicians and patients regarding authorization process and results.
• Must be able to obtain information to respond to difficult patient and medical insurance inquiries.
• Monitor status of authorization requests in accordance with internal protocols and initiate follow up as necessary to ensure receipt of established authorization within established time lines.
• Files and maintains documents
• Various other duties as assigned
