Requirements

High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.
Prior experience in a customer service role.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

The prior authorization specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing prior authorizations as requested by providers.
Obtains and processes initial prior authorizations and re-authorizations as required by insurance providers.
Notifies patient of appointments and gives any instructions required for appointment.
Enters insurance prior authorization documentation into the electronic health record.
Communicates patient financial responsibility for healthcare services to patients and guarantors.
Create and provide cost estimates for scheduled services and procedures.
Collect deposits, copayments, deductibles, and other patient payments.
Performs additional prior authorization responsibilities and clerical work as needed within the clinic.
