About The Position

The Verification/Auth Specialist may be responsible for all office duties, including verifying all accepted payers, obtaining authorization for all payers that require authorization, charting, phone calls, and patient scheduling. These support professionals are typically the first point of contact with intake/clinical staff, greeting them and taking initial information, which may include contact, referral, and insurance information. The role involves working indoors in an office space and is supervised by the Director of Verification and Authorizations. The position is considered low risk, but may require the ability to participate in physical activity, work for extended periods while sitting, standing, or being involved in physical activity, moderate lifting, and moderate bending, lifting, and standing on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Scheduling program(s).
  • Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out directions, read and write.
  • Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
  • Basic medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with insurance verification/authorization preferred.
  • Prior scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying all payers assigned in a timely manner.
  • Managing and maintaining a professional relationship and professional communication with all internal and external customers.
  • Obtaining authorization in a timely manner for all assigned payers that require authorization.
  • Follow up on any pending/outstanding authorization in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining office space and reception areas.
  • Work with billing on follow up work needed for retro pre-cert, billing issues, and/or authorization denials.
  • Overseeing office and medical supply inventories.
  • Managing email and mail traffic timely.
  • Maintaining forms and packages as directed by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
