About The Position

At the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), we are focused on improving opportunities and outcomes for Michiganders from preschool to postsecondary. MiLEAP was created in July 2023 and is the newest department in the State of Michigan. This position serves as the recognized resource for the auditing and monitoring of the Office of Higher Education. The role involves reviewing state and federal program records and sub-recipient accounting books, and interviewing program directors and finance officers to ensure compliance with state and federal cash management rules and regulations. This includes conducting desk audits and onsite program fiscal reviews. Additionally, the position is responsible for providing fiscal technical assistance and training to sub-recipient program directors and business office officials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.
  • Three years of professional experience auditing accounting, financial, and operations records.
  • One year of experience equivalent to an Auditor P11.

Responsibilities
