The Office of the Independent Inspector General (OIIG) was created to detect, deter and prevent corruption fraud, waste, mismanagement, unlawful political discrimination or misconduct in the operation of Cook County Government. Cook County, Ill., Ordinances 07-O-52 (2007). Performs highly complex compliance, performance, and financial reviews of Cook County agencies, programs, and operations. Conducts interviews, prepares comprehensive reports detailing findings and conclusions, and makes recommendations to the Inspector General and other senior level staff for corrective action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of County government.
