About The Position

SunSoft Online is seeking an Auditor - Corporate Tax / Compliance for a part-time contract opportunity with a government agency in Phoenix, AZ. This role will assist corporate auditors and the management team with audits and amended returns of corporate taxpayers. The position involves reviewing audit work, analyzing corporate taxpayer data, identifying possible audit leads, reviewing amended returns, and supporting process improvements for the corporate audit team. This is a primarily remote role, but the selected candidate must be local to Phoenix, AZ and available to attend first-day orientation in person. Occasional onsite work may be required.

Requirements

  • College degree in accounting or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 1 continuous year of corporate tax return experience with a government agency or accounting firm.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be local to Phoenix, AZ at the time of submission.
  • Resume must clearly show current location.
  • Must be able to start within two weeks of an offer.
  • Must have reliable internet access with sufficient bandwidth for remote work.
  • Must be available for first-day onsite orientation in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Must be able to pass required pre-employment checks, including criminal background and tax compliance check.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google Workspace applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with audits and amended returns of corporate taxpayers.
  • Ensure audit methods and procedures comply with Arizona tax law, rulings, and case law.
  • Complete medium to large complexity audit-related work.
  • Review auditor work and amended returns to determine next steps.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze corporate taxpayer data.
  • Identify possible audit leads for the audit selection program.
  • Review and update audit procedures.
  • Recommend process improvements for the corporate audit team.
  • Participate in team meetings, one-on-ones, and huddles.
