The Gaming Commission Auditor 1 monitors and verifies gaming compliance with established policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State, and Tribal regulations for designated Class II and Class III gaming facilities, as required by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS). This role determines the effectiveness of current systems, recommends placement or updates of internal controls, and provides guidance to assist with achieving compliance. The auditor utilizes data mining techniques to identify questionable transactions and signs of fraud or theft, performs investigations and inquiries into possible theft or fraud. Additionally, the auditor reviews operational variances and policy or procedure violations to identify patterns, suspicious activity, or recurring issues, and reviews notifications for any chips that are to be ordered, transferred/exchanged, or destroyed for discrepancies. The position also involves developing, revising, and maintaining the Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS) required by MICS.
