About The Position

In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate and provide leadership in large and highly complex audits in the Finance and Treasury areas of the Bank. You will provide an independent opinion on the design and effectiveness of operational and management controls in accordance with CIBC Audit and industry best practices, and develop and maintain strong relationships with business partners. CIBC enables a work environment that is optimal for you to thrive in your role. You will have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement, where you will spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing audits.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices, accounting standards, regulatory requirements and Risk Management principles.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the business, products, risks, processes and related controls within areas of responsibility in the Treasury, Finance and Capital Markets.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven and progressive experience in audit, accounting or other equivalent experience.

  • Professional designation/certification such as CPA, CFA, FRM, CIA.

Responsibilities

  • Assess key business risks and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of related processes and controls; identify and communicate internal control weaknesses and inefficiencies to business line management.
  • Advise management and business partners of best practices and promote compliance with CIBC policies and procedures, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify business control weaknesses, and objectively assess the severity and materiality of the issues and their potential impact on the business.
  • Work with business management to develop action plans based on realistic and workable solutions, to mitigate the risk and exposure in the long term.
  • Work collaboratively with audit management and other audit team members to plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment.
  • Participate in internal projects to improve and simplify audit processes.
  • Effectively manage multiple audit assignments at different stages of the audit cycle and complete required tasks on a timely basis.
  • Communicate regularly with the team and manager to provide updates on progress.
  • Provide effective and timely communication on risk and issues with influence and judgment to create positive outcomes.
  • Look for ways to enhance audit guidelines and practice development and to improve efficiency and audit experience.
