About The Position

As the Audit Director, Capital Markets, you will lead a multi-skilled audit team within the Capital Markets portfolio. You will oversee large or complex audits throughout all phases, including planning, execution, and reporting. Your role will involve building and maintaining strong professional relationships with the Capital Markets business, internal colleagues, and other internal and external stakeholders by providing trusted advice or assurance on governance, internal controls, and risk management activities. You will also be responsible for managing the team’s performance and development, monitoring key business risks and regulatory requirements, project management, and leading various continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Capital Markets functions within a large financial institution.
  • Managed teams of 2 or more people.
  • Provided strategic direction in past roles to enhance operational effectiveness of the department.
  • Degree/diploma in Bachelor or equivalent degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional designation (e.g. CPA, CIA) or equivalent business experience.
  • Legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified.
  • Ability to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills test (such as simulation, coding, French proficiency).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-skilled audit team within the Capital Markets portfolio.

  • Provide trusted advice or assurance on governance, internal controls, and risk management activities.
  • Manage the team’s performance and development.
  • Monitor key business risks and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage projects and lead various continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results, and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment.
  • Effectively manage multiple audits and internal projects at different stages to ensure completion within prescribed timelines.
  • Communicate regularly on progress and issues.
  • Review audit work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.
  • Provide trusted and proactive advice to the audit team and business management on the design and operating effectiveness of processes and controls.
  • Ensure key risks and regulatory requirements relevant to the portfolio are being adequately managed.
  • Coach and develop team members to build and maintain a collaborative team environment and ensure individual development goals are met.
  • Demonstrate clear, concise, and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts, or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators, and external auditors.
  • Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risk, control, and regulatory matters.
