Audit and Compliance Manager

Meta•Austin, TX
•$118,000 - $170,000

About The Position

Meta's Global Operations Risk, Monitoring and Controls (RMC) team makes risk management workable in day-to-day operations. It designs, runs, and improves processes, protocols, and monitoring that help operational teams execute controls reliably, document evidence, and surface issues early. The team supports the implementation and oversight of internal and external controls to identify and mitigate audit and compliance risks, and helps protect users' personal information and improve the platform experience. The Audit and Compliance Manager translates risk and control frameworks into practical operating routines used by operations teams. The role supports first-line control execution and self-assessment while maintaining the distinction between first-line accountability and second-line oversight. Depending on audit outcomes, the manager may coordinate management action plans and partner with cross-functional teams on systems or engineering fixes.

Requirements

  • Experience conducting recurring internal control audits to identify potential policy violations.
  • Experience communicating and presenting audit findings, control assessments, and compliance recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including executives, through written reports, stakeholder briefings, or executive summaries.
  • At least 4 years of project management experience within audit, compliance, or risk management functions.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Engineering, and investigation teams.
  • Experience managing, influencing, and driving strategic solutions across multiple teams, including technical teams.
  • Experience scoping and delivering projects where requirements, stakeholders, or processes are not fully defined.
  • At least 4 years of analytical and problem-solving experience in audit, compliance, or risk management.
  • Experience with automation deployment and understanding of automation technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Ongoing AI skill development, such as prompt or context engineering and agent orchestration, and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
  • Experience conducting internal or external audits of operational controls, compliance programs, or regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and drive measurable impact, such as efficiency gains or quality improvements.
  • Developer experience or familiarity with Meta developer platform products, such as Graph API, Meta Login, or Meta Business SDK.
  • Experience in public relations, legal support, or policy creation.
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices, such as risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality and accuracy reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and operate risk management processes and protocols supporting operational teams' control execution routines, monitoring cadences, evidence standards, escalation paths, and issue intake.
  • Partner with process owners to translate second-line risk requirements and control expectations into executable operating procedures without re-performing second-line assessment, challenge, or independent assurance activities.
  • Run control monitoring and testing in support of first-line self-assessment, including sampling, quality review, and evidence readiness for internal audit and second-line review.
  • Identify friction and failure patterns in operational controls and drive process redesign or automation to reduce manual burden and error rates.
  • Connect operations teams, second-line risk and compliance functions, Legal, and audit by routing questions to appropriate owners and maintaining clean handoffs.
  • Manage and maintain compliance monitoring programs and periodic testing procedures, including planning, reviewing, evaluating risks, identifying control improvements, and maintaining applicable documentation.
  • Independently manage and perform compliance reviews and audits of Legal and Compliance Operations' internal business processes, and conduct compliance reviews of third-party developers according to an established audit cadence.
  • Conduct process walkthroughs with external regulators and auditors, and provide data populations, sample documentation, and other necessary information.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal cross-functional areas; maintain current knowledge of the Audit and Compliance business model, processes, systems, and controls; and propose and influence positive change.
  • Draft, monitor, and escalate Management Action Plans for open compliance findings through resolution.
  • Prepare management reports on compliance program results and performance, and recommend process improvements to reduce business risks and improve future audit results.
  • Liaise with Product Counsel on developments in applicable regulations and policies that could affect the business, including industry best practices for consumer privacy protection and data security.
