About The Position

Arkansas Children's is a tobacco-free workplace and requires flu vaccines. This is a part-time, PRN (as needed) position, not eligible for benefits. The Audiology Technician provides infant hearing screenings for inpatients and outpatients under the direction of the department director or designee. This role manages data for patients as part of statewide Newborn Hearing Screening, Tracking, and Intervention Programs. The technician also assists with technical/clerical duties, including patient hearing technology and troubleshooting, and coordinates parent involvement activities. Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Entry Level - Experience not Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or 2 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the department director or designee, provides infant hearing screenings for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies daily.
  • Reports infant hearing screening data to the medical record, departmental database, and other appropriate sources as directed.
  • Coordinates scheduling needs and follow-up appointments for patients referred from the screening program in accordance with clerical standards.
  • Follows processes for patient hearing technology troubleshooting and repair.
  • Provides project support and assists in quality improvement procedures by actively collecting data as requested by the managing audiologist, director, or designee.
  • Coordinates parent involvement activities and makes initial and follow-up contacts with families of newly identified patients, providing information and support.
  • Serves as the patient liaison and develops and implements parent-to-parent support activities that are educational, informative, and motivating. Connects families to statewide systems of support.
