The Audiology Technician assists with patients using appropriate techniques and procedures to perform minor hearing aid repairs, cleanings, and programming. They also send hearing aids out for difficult or extensive repairs and order new hearing aids for patients as directed by the audiologist. This role assists the audiologist in direct patient care as needed, communicates with the audiologist and other members of the health care team, and documents accurate and timely information regarding patient questions and needs. The technician performs occupational health hearing tests and counseling per site requirements and provides office support, which may include scheduling appointments, organizing/preparing exam rooms, cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, checking equipment, managing referrals and prior authorizations, and processing work queues. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development over the life span.
