About The Position

Federal Way Audiology is a growing, independently owned private audiology practice located in Federal Way, Washington. We are committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered hearing and balance care through evidence-based practice and personalized treatment. Our clinic serves primarily the adult population and offers comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services in a supportive, collaborative environment. We are passionate about mentoring future audiologists and strive to provide an externship experience that emphasizes both clinical excellence and professional growth. Federal Way Audiology is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic 4th-year Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) extern for the 2027–2028 academic year. The extern will work closely with our audiologist and experienced support staff while gaining extensive hands-on experience in a busy private practice setting. This position provides increasing independence throughout the year while ensuring appropriate supervision and mentorship.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program
• Completion of all academic coursework prior to the externship start date
• Strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills
• Professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
• Passion for delivering outstanding patient-centered care and eagerness to learn

Responsibilities

• Comprehensive audiologic evaluations
• Diagnostic vestibular testing, including VNG and balance assessments
• Hearing aid evaluations, fittings, verification, and follow-up care with major manufacturers
• Hearing aid troubleshooting, programming, repairs, and counseling
• Tinnitus evaluations and counseling
• Cerumen management
• Patient counseling and individualized treatment planning
• Insurance verification, documentation, and exposure to private practice operations
• Collaboration with referring physicians and other healthcare providers
