This role focuses on assessing the needs of patients who have physical, mental, or emotional disabilities and delivering therapy services to improve their developmental, physical or cognitive impairment. In addition, this role focuses on performing Audio/Speech Therapy related duties such as evaluating patients and using sound therapy to improve physical and mental conditions, and treating a variety of speech disorders and communication difficulties. It is an organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a “hands on” environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. This is an entry level role that typically requires little to no prior knowledge or experience, where work is routine or follows standard procedures, is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation. The position supports a team of audiologists by providing both clinical and clerical assistance within the audiology department, contributing to efficient patient flow, high-quality patient care, and the overall organization of audiology services. The role performs hands-on support tasks such as assisting with audiological evaluations (without interpreting clinical results), instructing patients and families on the use of hearing technology, and performing the technical component of newborn hearing screenings following institutional protocol, including reporting required results to state public health authorities. The position also helps with troubleshooting hearing technology devices, recommending repairs, and preparing authorization requests.
