About The Position

Christie Clinic's department of Audiology is seeking a part-time (24 hours/week) clinical Audiologist at the Fields clinic between the hours of Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. Duties include providing direct patient services in the areas of diagnostic audiologic testing, vestibular testing and rehabilitation, and hearing aid recommendation and fitting.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology
  • Illinois State Licensure from IDFPR
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA
  • Illinois Hearing Aid License from IDPH

Responsibilities

  • Obtain case history through chart review, patient interview, behavioral observation, and family report
  • Perform all diagnostic tests necessary to determine the degree of loss and site-of-lesion for patients with auditory and vestibular complaints, including but not limited to VRA, BOA, CPA, routine audiometric procedures (AC, BC, SRT, WRS, Tympanograms, Reflex battery), threshold and diagnostic ABR, OAE, ENG, and CAP screening.
  • Interpret the results and communicate them in written form (dictated chart notes) or verbally (consultation with allied medical professionals).
  • Formulate and implement rehabilitative strategies for patients with vestibular lesions (vestibular rehabilitation, CRP) or hearing loss (evaluate, fit, verify, and validate hearing aids).
  • Counsel patients and their families.
  • Refer to appropriate allied health professionals, as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance to hearing aid patients, as needed (minor repairs, earmold modifications, assistive listening devices and FM systems).
  • Educate patients about hearing loss prevention strategies (counseling, custom earplugs).
  • Promote community education through health screenings, educational lectures, and news releases.
  • Maintain audiologic test equipment on a daily basis and recommend the implementation of new audiologic procedures, as needed.
  • Provide in-service training for staff, interns and students.
  • Attend all required meetings and seminars.
  • Maintain all necessary professional affiliations.
  • Perform related duties as required.
