About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for an Audiologist to join our team! The audiologist will diagnose and treat patients' hearing and balance problems using advanced technology and standardized medical procedures. Some of these procedures could include the following: pediatric and adult hearing evaluations (including pure-tone air and bone conduction testing, speech audiometry, tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing), potentially videonystagmography evaluations, and tinnitus evaluations. Specialty otologic tests include eustachian tube function testing, testing for tensor tympani myoclonus, oval window fistula screening, and Wideband Acoustic Immittance testing. The audiologist will interpret diagnostic procedures and perform tasks necessary for the successful fitting of hearing devices.

Requirements

  • Masters level degree in Audiology and licensed audiologist in Idaho or ability to obtain licensure within six months to one year.
  • Current BLS, PEARS/ACLS, Certification.
  • American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Experience providing hearing testing in an efficient manner in a busy ENT practice
  • Basic computer and typing skills.
  • The ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must understand medical terminology.
  • General Math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical doctorate in Audiology plus nine months post degree completion preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform reliable diagnostic evaluations, including hearing testing, tympanometry, acoustic-stapedial reflex testing, oto-acoustic evaluations, reflex decay, and any special test procedures that are clinically appropriate.
  • Analyzes the hearing, balance or other ear-related problems that are reported by a patient.
  • Select and administer the appropriate diagnostic procedures for each patient based on age and performance ability.
  • Assists in determining any appropriate referral or follow-up for patients.
  • Document diagnostic procedure performed on patient in EMR system.
  • Write thorough and timely reports for every Medicare patient evaluated.
  • Provide information to billing department to allow for the proper billing of diagnostic procedures and hearing aids.
  • Utilize communication skills, professional awareness, and interpersonal skills to discuss effectively interpretation of the test results with patients and their families and be able to explain to the patient and their families the various rehabilitative options available including hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
  • Inform patients and their families on various communicative strategies when speaking with an individual with hearing impairment.
  • Effectively communicate results and plan of action with the referring physician and other professionals who are also working with a patient.
  • Acquire an in-depth knowledge of the various products from the different hearing aid manufacturers MVH is contracted with and discuss these various products with patients.
  • Make ear impressions, as necessary
  • Develop counseling and teaching skills to help patients as they progress through their initial acclimation period with hearing aids and accessories.
  • Maintain patient records by timely recording and updating the patients evaluations, changes, progress, and treatments in their hearing aid charts.
  • Take ownership of the office that they are working in, by regularly communicating with each physician and the other staff members.
  • Independently obtain CEU credits sufficient to maintain Idaho state Audiology license.
  • Remain up-to-date in professional knowledge by tracking trends in new techniques and approaches; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
  • Continually remain informed about and make concerted efforts to stay in compliance with professional standards and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.
