About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Classroom Technical Infrastructure, the Audio-Visual Technician plays a key role in supporting the University’s teaching and learning environments by ensuring the reliable operation of audiovisual technologies. Working as part of the Classroom Technical Support team within Computing and Communication Services (CCS), the technician provides hands-on support, routine maintenance, and technical assistance across classrooms, meeting rooms, lecture halls, and event spaces.

Requirements

  • Two-year College Diploma in Audio-Visual Technology, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology, Broadcast Technology, Media Production or related field.
  • One to two years of experience in AV equipment setup and troubleshooting, preferably in an educational or corporate setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with AV control systems (Crestron/Extron), video conferencing platforms (Zoom, MS Teams), and AV-over-IP technologies.
  • Valid G-Class Driver’s License.
  • Working at Heights certification.

Nice To Haves

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification preferred or to be obtained within the first year.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV equipment such as projectors, microphones, control systems, and video conferencing tools.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and routine checks to ensure AV systems are functioning optimally.
  • Providing first-level support and training to faculty and staff on AV systems and hybrid learning technologies.
  • Assisting with, and running AV setups for campus events and transporting equipment between locations.
  • Collaborating with IT and facilities teams on AV upgrades and renovations.
