About The Position

The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for providing exceptional, service-oriented, technical assistance for Denver Art Museum programs, events, and meetings. This role involves setting up, operating, monitoring, striking, and maintaining audio-visual equipment for both internal museum functions and external meetings. The position reports to the Senior AV Manager in the IT Department and collaborates closely with the Lead AV Technician. This is a part-time, non-exempt position covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge and real-world experience in using audio-visual equipment within professional event environments.
  • Strong understanding of conventional signal flow within audio, video, and lighting systems.
  • Professional working proficiencies with: Digital audio systems (wired and wireless), Digital video recording camera and playback systems, Conventional theatrical lighting systems and portable lighting for video, and Apple & Microsoft operating systems, business, creative, playback, streaming and broadcasting applications.
  • Tactful and patient demeanor.
  • Organized and strategic approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers.
  • Ability to follow instructions and logically fill in missing steps when necessary.
  • Professional communication style.
  • Ability to keep AV setups tidy and safe.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ on-the-job experience providing audio-visual and/or technical support.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of integrated IT networked environments is a plus.
  • Quick study, prioritizes aesthetics, and models staying calm under pressure in stressful situations.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in difficult problem-solving situations.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, operate, and strike audio-visual systems for assigned events.
  • Quickly identify and implement smart troubleshooting techniques for common issues in AV environments.
  • Deliver a successful and positive customer service-oriented experience for audiences and clients.
  • Absorb knowledge of DAM policies, restrictions, and procedures to coordinate and execute technical programs without violating museum security or collection integrity.
  • Work at least 1 event per month.
  • Extend assistance and a customer service-oriented approach to 3rd party vendors on events as required with integration into DAM AV systems.
  • Adhere to IT/AV departmental policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
