About The Position

The function of the Audio Technician is to assemble / prep, transport, deploy, operate, and maintain professional audio systems for events of all sizes and genres while providing exceptional service to our clients that upholds Clearwing's industry-leading standards.

Requirements

  • Five (5) year's experience in entertainment audio production preferred or equivalent education.
  • Working knowledge of audio equipment in Clearwing inventory.
  • L'Acoustics System Fundamentals Training.
  • L'Acoustics K Series Training.
  • Forklift, Boom Lift, and Scissor Lift certified.
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Willingness to travel (occasionally on short notice), must have a valid passport.
  • Valid Drivers' License and Clean MVR.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Calculates power consumption for systems, sets up generators, and understands 3-phase power.
  • Implement Audio systems while working closely with Lead Audio Technicians and Engineering.
  • Call truck packs in the shop and onsite.
  • Lead a large crew and understand union/house rules.
  • Solder and re-terminate Cat5 and BNC.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and network problems.
  • Assemble and build processing, RF racks, and any custom racks per show requirements.
  • Performs on site Audio rigging and can identify compromised rigging pieces.
  • Can operate as an A2 or A3 as needed.
  • Experience in networking, RF, com, audio processing, and advanced audio theories / practices.
  • Understanding and implementation of the following computer software: L'Acoustics Soundivison, Network Manager, JBL Performance Manager and LAC, Shure Wireless Workbench and Rational Acoustics Smaart 9, Vectorworks Viewer.
  • Clear and advanced understanding of audio networking including switch programming, custom switch configs, routers, AP's, IP address configs, switch-port functions, fiber modes and connection.
  • Apply advanced signal flow through an audio system including multiple digital formats and conversions, broadcast/press feeds, delay systems, complex input schedules (large festivals & corporate events), complex monitoring systems.
  • Read and implement show paperwork including signal routing, loom lists, input lists, detailed PA hanging specifications, rigging plots, and network topologies.
  • Works with warehouse staff to prep, pull, pack, test, and maintain gear.
  • Assist other company departments as work demands require.
  • Current knowledge of industry standards and technology.
