Audio Engineer

Brown Missionary Baptist Church•Southaven, MS

About The Position

The Audio Engineer supports Brown Missionary Baptist Church by delivering clear, consistent, and distraction-free sound for worship services, rehearsals, funerals, weddings, ministry programs, recordings, and other approved events. The employee prepares and operates assigned audio systems, responds to technical problems, safeguards church equipment, and collaborates with pastors, musicians, production staff, and ministry leaders. Assignments may cover room audio, stage-monitor audio, or broadcast audio; the description does not make one employee automatically responsible for independently operating all three simultaneously. The role includes preparing for events, supporting livestreams and recordings, troubleshooting and caring for equipment, working respectfully with ministry participants, and following scheduling, safety, and accountability procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mixing consoles and balance speech, vocals, instruments, and playback while monitoring for feedback, distortion, and interruptions.
  • Arrive at the assigned call time and complete setup, microphone preparation, soundchecks, playback tests, and backup arrangements before the readiness deadline.
  • Verify assigned audio feeds, coordinate with video production, monitor recordings, and deliver files by established deadlines.
  • Address technical failures, communicate significant problems, maintain equipment, and complete shutdown and room-reset procedures.
  • Follow production cues and assist assigned technicians and volunteers.
  • Serve ministry leaders, guests, and grieving families respectfully.
  • Confirm assignments, report scheduling conflicts, record all hours worked, follow safety procedures, and protect sensitive information.
