About The Position

We are seeking an attorney for an initial 6-month contract in Washington DC. The role involves providing timely, accurate information, legal advice, representation in eviction and housing conditions litigation and/or non-litigation matters, referral, self-help materials, guidance, and/or other assistance to eligible clients within and related to landlord-tenant law. The position also includes engaging in or supporting systemic advocacy, conducting community outreach, education, and training events, providing guidance and referring cases to volunteers, law students, and legal support staff, and monitoring their work. The attorney will develop and maintain expertise in primary areas of responsibility and collaborate with other legal services advocates, clients, and community leaders on systemic issues.

Requirements

• Must be an attorney.
• Experience in landlord-tenant law.
• Ability to provide legal advice and representation.
• Experience with litigation and/or non-litigation matters.
• Experience with systemic advocacy.
• Experience with community outreach, education, and training.
• Ability to guide and monitor volunteers, law students, and legal support staff.
• Ability to develop and maintain expertise in primary areas of responsibility.
• Collaboration skills.

Responsibilities
