This position will provide legal support to the Division of Children and Family Services as a juvenile court attorney in the Omaha area. The attorney in this position will appear as a special assistant attorney general representing the Department in juvenile court proceedings. The attorney will be based in the Omaha office and will primarily attend court in Douglas and Sarpy counties, but may travel to surrounding counties as needed. This position will also provide litigation support to the agency and Attorney General's Office, as needed. This may include the handling of appeals filed with the Nebraska appellate courts on behalf of the agency.

Requirements

  • Attorney II: One year of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.
  • Attorney III: Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies.
  • In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbents in these classes must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.

  • Experience or familiarity with juvenile law.

Responsibilities
