About The Position

The Attorney advises and represents the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) in relation to their legal rights in civil and criminal cases. Their duties include meeting with the Chief Legal Officer to discuss the various aspects of OPSO cases, performing research to gather pertinent information for each case and attending all pretrial hearings. Work to resolve disputes for OPSO and represent OPSO at hearings in a court of law.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Louisiana Bar.
  • Experience in civil and criminal law.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government or public sector law.
  • Knowledge of correctional facility operations.
