Attorney Volunteer - Pro Bono

The Legal Aid SocietyNew York, NY
Onsite

About The Position

The Legal Aid Society seeks Attorney volunteers for its Pro Bono practice to expand legal services to more clients and communities. Volunteer placements are based on current client needs and Legal Aid staff capacity for training and supervision. Most placements are for Attorneys with experience matching or complementing practice areas and projects. Volunteer placements require an in-person commitment at one of their borough offices during standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM), unless otherwise instructed by a supervisor. Weekend opportunities are not available. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and placement cannot be guaranteed due to high application volume. Attorneys at law firms with an established relationship with Legal Aid should contact their firm's pro bono leadership. This position is not for students; the organization offers robust internship programs for students. The organization is currently unable to accommodate volunteers seeking to fulfill the fifty-hour Pro Bono requirement for bar admission.
