About The Position

This role supports operations at the Palo Verde Generating Station, where legal is not a back-office function, but a strategic partner in how the business operates and grows. The position is for an Attorney (Commercial Law) who wants to be embedded in the business, influence decisions, and build strong partnerships across an organization, going beyond just reviewing contracts. What your day would be like: Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing practical, solutions-oriented guidance on commercial matters. Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including vendor, procurement, and operational contracts. Partner closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and influence outcomes early in the process. Identify and assess risk while offering balanced, business-forward solutions. Requirements

Degree from accredited law school; member of State Bar of Arizona
3-5 years previous related legal experience (for Attorney role)
Degree from an accredited law school; Licensed state bar member in good standing
May be required to become a member of the State Bar of Arizona
Five (5) years of experience with significant exposure to corporate clients and the types of legal issues regularly faced by large public companies (for Senior Attorney role)
Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing practical, solutions-oriented guidance on commercial matters.
Lead the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, including vendor, procurement, and operational contracts.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and influence outcomes early in the process.
Identify and assess risk while offering balanced, business-forward solutions.
Build strong internal relationships that position legal as a valued and approachable partner.
Perform a variety of legal services, which are moderately complex in connection with every phase of the Company's operations, while under the direction of a more experienced attorney.
Counsel senior management and/or assist more experienced attorneys in the development of strategy regarding negotiations, disputes, claims, litigation/administrative proceedings, etc., by recommending specific courses of action based on extensive research, investigation, analysis, and experience.
Occasionally provide preliminary instruction, monitor performance of assignments, review soundness of approach/arguments and application of legal principles of outside counsel retained by the company.
Maintain positive working relationship with internal and external customers.
