About The Position

Centurion is seeking a Corporate Counsel – Labor/Employment to join their legal team. This role will serve as an in-house legal advisor, focusing primarily on labor and employment matters. The position will collaborate with the Associate General Counsel and Human Resources leadership to offer practical legal guidance on various employment issues impacting the company's healthcare operations. Key responsibilities include managing the company's employment-related legal caseload, advising HR and business leaders on daily employment matters, assisting with employment litigation and administrative proceedings, and drafting/reviewing employment-related legal documents. The ideal candidate is an experienced employment attorney adept at balancing legal risks with business needs, demonstrating sound judgment, and providing clear advice in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This position is based in the Legal Office in Atlanta, GA, with a hybrid work schedule that includes in-office requirements.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate obtained from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in at least one state.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with an emphasis on representation of management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal employment laws and regulations, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA, NLRA, and applicable state employment laws.
  • Experience drafting employment policies, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, separation agreements, and other employment-related documents.
  • Experience counseling employers regarding wage and hour compliance, employee accommodations, leaves of absence, workplace investigations, and employee discipline and termination.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive Company information and exercise sound judgment in the administration of job duties.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks and meet related deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Company's employment-related legal caseload in coordination with the Associate General Counsel and outside counsel, including litigation strategy, discovery, pleadings, settlement discussions, and other aspects of employment matters.
  • Assist with or manage employment litigation, administrative charges, agency investigations, demand letters, and other employment-related disputes.
  • Assist in evaluating potential claims, litigation exposure, and settlement strategies.
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to Human Resources, management, and other business leaders regarding federal and state labor and employment laws.
  • Advise on employee relations matters, including discipline, performance management, investigations, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, terminations, reductions in force, and other workplace matters.
  • Partner with Human Resources to identify and mitigate employment-related legal risks while supporting the Company's operational objectives.
  • Draft, review, and revise employment-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Review and draft employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, severance agreements, restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, and other employment-related documents.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of employment-related policies and practices across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects involving employment, compliance, organizational changes, and business initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
