About The Position

The primary purpose of this Attorney III position, which is funded by the University of North Carolina, is to independently litigate all phases of complex litigation, trials, and appeals in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals, involving the University of North Carolina, its constituent institutions, and their officers, faculty, and employee. These cases include federal civil rights and employment discrimination cases, federal and state constitutional claims, intentional torts, libel and slander, and other complex, high-profile claims in both State and federal courts.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional legal experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with management, colleagues, and clients
  • Experience independently handling litigation

Responsibilities

  • Independently litigate all phases of complex litigation, trials, and appeals in state and federal courts and administrative tribunals, involving the University of North Carolina, its constituent institutions, and their officers, faculty, and employee.
  • Handle federal civil rights and employment discrimination cases.
  • Handle federal and state constitutional claims.
  • Handle intentional torts, libel and slander.
  • Handle other complex, high-profile claims in both State and federal courts.
