About The Position

Scan.com is hiring a Mid-Level Contracts Attorney to join its Legal team as the company grows its national diagnostic imaging network. Reporting to the Senior Attorney, this hands-on role supports the full commercial contracting lifecycle, from drafting and redlining through negotiation, execution, and the processes and systems that support contracting. The attorney will be the primary legal contact for the Supply team, own the NDA process, and help build scalable contracting infrastructure. The role may evolve as the business grows. The position also supports healthcare regulatory compliance by translating applicable legal requirements into contract terms and workable business processes. Scan.com expects the attorney to use AI as a daily aid for drafting, analysis, and research, while checking its output and handling sensitive data responsibly. The role offers flexible remote or hybrid work options. The listed salary range is $150,000–$170,000. Atlanta office amenities include a complimentary Wednesday team lunch, on-site gym access, a roof terrace, and on-site lunch options.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • Commercial contracting experience in a law firm, in-house, or legal operations setting, with the ability to manage matters independently and work with limited oversight.
  • Strong drafting and redlining skills, including proficiency with tracked changes and comments in Word and Google Docs, and the ability to produce clean redlines without internal annotations.
  • Sound commercial judgment, including the ability to prioritize negotiation points and identify reasonable trade-offs.
  • Clear, direct writing and ability to explain legal risk to non-lawyers in practical terms.
  • Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple matters and follow through independently.
  • Daily use of AI for drafting, analysis, and research, with the ability to check its work, avoid putting sensitive data into public tools, and provide concrete examples of improved work through AI.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare legal experience, including HIPAA, BAAs, AKS/Stark, corporate practice of medicine, or work with provider organizations, health systems, payors, or health technology companies.
  • Hands-on experience administering a contract lifecycle management or legal workflow tool such as LawVu or Ironclad, building template automation, or using e-signature platforms such as DocuSign.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and enthusiasm for building processes as the company scales.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the legal point of contact for the Supply team on imaging center, diagnostic services, vendor, and services agreements, as well as related amendments, assignments, and renewals.
  • Draft and redline agreements using Scan.com forms, and review counterparty drafts against standard positions, identifying deviations and recommending fallback positions.
  • Negotiate counterparty redlines involving liability caps, indemnities, data and privacy terms, termination and renewal mechanics, and payment terms; escalate material issues with analysis and recommended options.
  • Prepare and negotiate business associate agreements and data processing agreements, including arrangements involving multiple affiliated professional corporations.
  • Own the NDA process from intake through execution, identifying nonstandard provisions and issues such as non-solicits, residuals clauses, and overbroad definitions.
  • Administer the LawVu contract lifecycle management platform and create intake forms, workflows, approval routing, and automations for review, signature, and post-signature obligations.
  • Build and maintain template libraries and negotiation playbooks, including merge fields and conditional logic.
  • Train business users on the contracting system and policies, including signature authority and execution procedures.
  • Support healthcare regulatory compliance initiatives involving HIPAA, state privacy laws, federal and state anti-kickback statutes, Stark, corporate practice of medicine, and fee-splitting, and translate requirements into contract terms and workflows.
  • Track open issues, negotiation history, key dates, and NDA volume and turnaround; identify ways to reduce reliance on Legal for routine requests.
  • Use AI for drafting, analysis, and research; verify its output and use it responsibly with sensitive data.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $150,000–$170,000.
  • Flexible remote or hybrid work options.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage.
  • 28+ days of paid time off across PTO and wellbeing days.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • 401k retirement plan.
  • Equipment needed to do the job.
  • Inclusive, people-first policies.
  • Atlanta office perks: complimentary team lunch every Wednesday, on-site gym access, roof terrace, and on-site lunch options.
