About The Position
Stark & Stark has a full-time opening for a Litigation Associate within our Nursing Home Negligence group, in our Hamilton, New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal research and writing skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and be self-directed and detail oriented. Candidates must be able to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will have an extraordinary opportunity to continue their professional development in a challenging but collegial environment and learn a niche practice area. This position is ideal for an associate who is highly motivated, detail oriented, hardworking, and eager to develop into a trial lawyer. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, develop their skills, and is committed to mastering both the written and oral advocacy.
Requirements
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Self-directed and detail oriented.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly motivated, detail oriented, hardworking, and eager to develop into a trial lawyer.
- Commitment to mastering both written and oral advocacy.
- Experience handling a high-volume caseload in a fast paced, results oriented environment with limited oversight.
- Strong analytical, drafting, writing, research, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline driven practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team, with strong integrity and professionalism.
- Exercise judgment and the ability to work autonomously to effectively analyze the merit of a claim.
- Experience in and ability to effectively negotiate, settle, litigate, and try cases.
- Must be licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey.
Nice To Haves
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Plaintiff’s Nursing Home or Medical Malpractice experience is preferred.
- Judicial Clerkship is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Support and assist a team in litigating nursing home negligence cases and growing the practice.
- Evaluate the merits of individual claims.
- Work directly with clients.
- Handle depositions.
- Drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery.
- Writing and researching legal issues for briefs and pleadings.
- Reviewing medical records and discovery.
