About The Position

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is seeking an Attorney 4 for the Oil & Gas Commission, headquartered at Fountain Square in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves providing legal counsel and advice to the Commission on policy development and implementation, coordinating public adjudicatory hearings for appeals of Chief’s Orders, researching and drafting legal opinions, and holding status conferences. The position is located at 2045 Morse Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43229. ODNR manages a vast array of natural resources across Ohio, including state parks, wildlife land, and water, and employs a diverse range of professionals.

Requirements

  • Admission to the Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code.
  • 12 months of experience as a licensed attorney.
  • 6 months of experience in employee training and development.
  • Transcripts are required for all coursework, degrees or educational accomplishments claimed on the application.
  • Must submit a transcript (can be unofficial until point of selection) by the posting deadline.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel and advice to the Oil & Gas Commission on policy development and implementation.
  • Coordinate public adjudicatory hearings for cases involving appeals of Chief’s Orders.
  • Research and draft legal opinions for the Commission.
  • Hold status conferences and prepare, certify and transmit records of proceedings to the appellate court.
