About The Position

The Attending Veterinarian (AV) is responsible for ensuring the clinical care of all the animals in the Animal Care Program at the University of Maine. The AV is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal regulations as well as ensuring that researchers are appropriately trained in the procedures being performed.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited institution.
  • A Drug Enforcement Administration's controlled substance permit.
  • A Maine DVM license.
  • Maintain state veterinary licensure and federal accreditation through continuing education credits.
  • Sufficient time in private practice or laboratory animal medicine to gain competency in veterinary herd health, clinical medicine, and surgery skills.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLAM diplomate or other specialty board certification.
