About The Position

This role involves providing clinical supervision and dental lectures to residents in various programs including Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery, and Dental Anesthesia. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of Oral Surgery & Maxillofacial Surgery, including IV Sedation, dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, orthodontic surgery, implant planning & placement, TMJ surgery, and major laceration repair. The individual will also mentor residents in QI and research projects, participate in hospital committees, and be on call monthly, shared with other Oral Surgery Attendings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited US OMFS Residency
  • Board Certified by ABOMS or board eligible with a plan to become certified within 3 years
  • NYS Dental License
  • NYS Anesthesia Certification
  • DEA license

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Prioritize customer service, treating patients, visitors, and co-workers professionally.
  • Effectively communicate about hospital services and ensure concerns reach the appropriate personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable about Department policies and protocols to convey information to residents.
  • Provide timely, comprehensive review and signing of charts of all residents worked with.
  • Provide clinical supervision of residents in Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Dental Anesthesia Residency Programs.
  • Provide dental lectures to Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Dental Anesthesia Residents.
  • Be available to mentor residents in QI and research projects.
  • Follow all hospital directives, including maintaining up-to-date Healthstream, MED IQ and OHS files, and attendance at Department Staff meetings.
  • Willing to participate in Hospital Committees.
  • Be on call monthly, shared with other Oral Surgery Attendings in the department.
