About The Position

This is a part-time, hourly position supporting the Athletic Department at Bay Area Christian School. The primary role involves providing customer service at home athletic events by working the gate or concessions stand. The position requires adherence to the school's mission and employee profile, including a Christian testimony and lifestyle. The student worker will handle payments, assist spectators, and maintain a professional demeanor while limiting personal distractions during shifts.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience would be beneficial, but is not required
  • Basic math skills for cash handling duties required
  • Responsible, punctual, and dependable
  • Ability to consistently deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to maintain a pleasant, respectful, and attentive demeanor
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to speak with others using clear and professional language
  • Ability to endure weather conditions during outdoor events
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends to support home games and special events
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment, including computers, copiers, phones, etc.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; 30 pounds of force frequently; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; perform repetitive motion, such as grasping, picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise utilizing finger dexterity
  • Must be able to regularly remain stationary and move around work environment
  • Must be able to regularly remain stationary at the computer, requiring repetitive finger movements and manual dexterity
  • Must possess the ability to observe details at close range required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and reading
  • Must possess the ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction; possess the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound
  • Must possess the ability to express ideas using the spoken word to convey instructions to students, parents, and other stakeholders accurately, loudly, and/or quickly
  • Acceptance of and agreement with the Bay Area Church statement of faith and standard of conduct
  • A strong, clear Christian testimony
  • A lifestyle that displays an ongoing personal relationship with God and a commitment to serve Him daily

Responsibilities

  • Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
  • Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner at all times
  • Utilize the credit card machine to process payments
  • Accurately calculate and issue change for cash payments
  • Direct visiting spectators to the correct location in the gymnasiums and athletic fields for events
  • Promptly return the cash box and credit card machine to the school administrator on duty following the completion of home athletic events
  • Maintain knowledge of concession stand food and drink prices and availability
  • Remain engaged with customers throughout the entirety of the shift
  • Limit cell phone usage and visiting with friends throughout the entirety of the shift
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor, which will vary depending on the needs of each game
