About The Position

Brown University Athletics is seeking candidates for multiple seasonal Athletics Statistician positions. This role assists the athletics communications staff in the keeping of live statistics at athletic events. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).

Requirements

Knowledge of or willingness to learn both stat crew and genius stat systems
Ability to work quickly and accurately under extreme time pressure
Comprehensive knowledge of a given sports rules and regulations
Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to learn, specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules
Must be able to observe and react quickly to events on the field/court/athletic venue in order to accurately input all game stats into stat crew/genius

Nice To Haves

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).

Responsibilities

Input or call every statistical occurrence at athletic event using either stat crew or genius stats
Assist athletic communications staff in other game day needs as they arise
Submit stat packages to NCAA, Conference offices, and competing teams
Observe and react quickly to events on the field/court/athletic venue in order to accurately input all game stats into stat crew/genius
Interact with and work alongside assigned game officials, Athletic Communications staff, Event Management staff, and Marketing and Promotions staff during events
Demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations
Perform duties in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations
Report any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division to the compliance office and appropriate parties
