About The Position

Supervises athletic fields, parks or other assigned recreation facilities; maintains all established safety measures, provides first aid, issues and enforces rules and regulations and interprets guidelines; maintains equipment security; sets-up facility for public use and cleans up for programs, rentals and athletic events; opens, closes and secures building/facility and keys; completes reports. Assists the Recreation Program Supervisor with planning, coordinating, implementing and supervising a wide variety of programs, camps, activities and events. The essential functions of the job are not limited to those listed in the job description. The City retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. Supervises programs, events, or camp activities by leading or instructing assigned camps and event activities. Assists with supervision of participants; assists with participant surveys and program evaluations; and assembles, inspects, distributes, and inventories program equipment. Provides a wide variety of administrative support including providing customer service support; answering phones; collects and compiles revenue and program evaluations and assessments. Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School or GED
  • Up to one year of experience
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to City criteria
  • Basic familiarity with the work to know common principles and terminology and to understand and solve simple problems
  • Intermediate reading ability
  • Basic writing ability
  • Basic math ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Requires regular & routine interaction involving exchange and receipt of information
  • Normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results
  • Some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices
  • Assignment is usually reviewed frequently
  • Comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization
  • Adequate vision, hearing and talking to observe actions of others use a computer, telephone and communicate effectively with others
  • May frequently experience time pressure, working closely with others as a part of a team, exacting work and a noisy environment
  • Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of City equipment, tools and other resources, including work time
  • Regular and predictable attendance is expected
