About The Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position for UND students. The Marketing and Communications department serves as the backdrop and face of Fighting Hawks Athletics. Their commitment to fans includes providing exceptional customer service, creating an engaging atmosphere, developing revenue-generating ideas, increasing fan base and engagement, and maintaining a positive outlook. Both Federal Work Study and non-work study applicants are welcome.

Requirements

  • Marketing, communications public relations or advertising major (or related field)
  • Willingness to learn or current knowledge of Adobe software (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Interest and Knowledge of collegiate sports
  • Strong communication skills (phone, email, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work ALL home football games
  • If hired as a Marketing Assistant, the ability to cover ALL games for your lead sport
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Must be a UND student
  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and complete required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive a long-term project or sport designation, determined prior to the fall season based on seniority, availability, and interest. Sport designations can include lead roles for football, volleyball, soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, hockey, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, softball, or track and field. Long-term projects can include NoDak Nation (Email, social media and promotion), Jr. Champions Kids Club (Email, special events, registration, promotion, scheduling), and Photo database management (Influencer and Canto).
  • Work with sport supervisor to lead game presentation efforts for assigned lead sports.
  • Assist with social media planning, content creation and postings.
  • Represent UND Athletics at on- and off-campus events (UND Pep Rally, Fan Fests, Student Tailgate Pick-up, etc.).
  • Conduct market research.
  • Serve as Mascot handler for on and off campus events.
  • Proofread Media Guides, etc.
  • Manage records.
  • Create Photo Albums on the website.
  • Update student-athlete bios.
  • Execute athletic promotions for football, volleyball, soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, hockey, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, softball and track and field, NoDak Nation and Jr. Champions.
  • Live stream and post on social media during the game.
  • Other duties as assigned.
