This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and supervision of the City’s Athletics section, including youth and adult athletic programs such as Pop Warner football and cheerleading, youth basketball, adult softball, Summer Hoops, and Midnight Basketball. Responsibilities include planning and implementing programs, coordinating registrations, schedules, facilities, equipment, volunteers, coaches, and participant communication, while promoting safety, sportsmanship, and positive community engagement. The position also supervises one permanent part-time employee and two temporary part-time employees, assists with staff scheduling, training, payroll, recordkeeping, purchasing, marketing, and program evaluation, and helps ensure athletic programs are well-organized, responsive to community needs, and delivered in a professional manner. SUMMARY This is responsible administrative and supervisory work developing, implementing, and coordinating a variety of recreational programs and events and in oversight of City recreational facilities. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its varied and specialized responsibilities for supervision, development and coordination of recreational events and activities.
