About The Position

The Athletics Department Grounds and Facilities Worker is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment for all athletic facilities within the Little Rock School District. This position supports student-athletes, staff, and the community by ensuring athletic spaces are properly cleaned, prepared, and maintained for daily use, practices, competitions, and special events. The role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on athletic schedules.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a landscape industry technician and/or any form of maintenance related certification.
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Acceptable and visible communication skills with the ability to welcome interaction with all member of the school community (students, teachers, families, community).
  • Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred, particularly in athletic or large-facility settings.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains athletic facilities including gymnasiums, locker rooms, weight rooms, training areas, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Set up and break down facilities for athletic events, practices, tournaments, and special activities (e.g., seating, equipment, trash receptacles).
  • Performs routine floor care, including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing athletic floors as required.
  • Collects and properly disposes of trash and recycling from athletic facilities and event areas.
  • Maintains inventory of custodial supplies and notify supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Reports safety hazards, maintenance issues, vandalism, or security concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Follows district safety procedures, proper use of cleaning chemicals, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assists with emergency clean-ups or weather-related needs affecting athletic facilities.
  • Supports district events and community use of athletic facilities as assigned.
  • Tends lawns, turf, and shrubs by mowing, edging, and pruning.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Facilities or Athletics Department administration.
