About The Position

The Athletics Graphic Designer will conceptualize, plan, and execute digital and/or print design to support the strategic objectives of the institution. This role creates on-brand, compelling visual assets used to inform, educate, inspire, and/or persuade. The designer will work collaboratively with other creative professionals, manage project workflow and timing, maintain files, and follow established work unit processes. Key responsibilities include creating artwork per project specifications, answering client questions, analyzing cost-effective options, applying creative expertise within brand guidelines, and monitoring art production projects adhering to timelines. This position promotes the philosophy and objectives of the athletic program, adhering to all departmental policies and NCAA regulations. The role involves designing and producing high-quality graphics and creative media for the athletic department and its programs to advance brand and creative strategies. It also supports content management for social media accounts, assists in developing creative concepts and integrated campaigns, and helps with photography, videography, and digital needs as part of the Athletics Communication team. The designer will organize and maintain digital asset libraries and ensure all content adheres to NCAA, conference, and institutional policies. Additional departmental support and tasks assigned by the Director of Athletics are also expected.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree to be completed by May 31, 2026
  • One year of demonstrated experience working in graphic design or related field
  • Must be independently, legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain their work authorization without the support or help of UW-Superior throughout employment.
  • Knowledge of brand management and maintaining visual identity standards
  • Familiarity with athletics culture, recruiting, and fan engagement strategies
  • Understanding of social media platforms and content trends, particularly in collegiate athletics
  • Strong visual design and storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling, on-brand graphics
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and motion graphics/video editing tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and conflict management
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, to be completed by May 31, 2026
  • Two years of demonstrated experience working in collegiate athletics with responsibility in graphic design and creative content

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes, plans, and executes digital and/or print design to support the strategic objectives of the institution.
  • Creates on-brand, compelling visual assets used to inform, educate, inspire, and/or persuade.
  • Works collaboratively with other creative professionals, engages in and responds to creative feedback.
  • Manages project workflow and timing, maintains files, and follows established work unit processes.
  • Creates, designs, and produces artwork per project specifications through various mediums.
  • Answers questions and provides information and problem resolution options to clients and stakeholders.
  • Analyzes and identifies cost effective options to meet project requirements.
  • Applies creative expertise within established brand and style guidelines.
  • Schedules logistics, secures resources, organizes, and monitors art production projects adhering to established timelines and expectations.
  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the athletic program, adhering to and enforcing all departmental policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the university, governing sport conference(s), and the National Collegiate Athletic Associate (NCAA).
  • Designs and produces high-quality graphics and creative media for the athletic department and its programs to advance and execute the brand and creative strategies of the department and university.
  • Supports the content management of the athletic department social media accounts to ensure alignment of department and university marketing, branding and creative strategies.
  • Assists in the development of creative concepts and integrated campaigns, while evaluating and ensuring alignment with established brand standards and visual identity guidelines.
  • Assists with photography, videography, and digital needs as part of the Athletics Communication team.
  • Organizes and maintains digital asset libraries, including photos, templates, and design files.
  • Ensures all content adheres to NCAA, governing sport conference(s), and institutional policies and guidelines.
  • Provides additional departmental support to and tasks assigned by the Director of Athletics.
  • Completes required trainings and professional development as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
