About The Position

The Athletics Game Day Student Assistant is an entry-level student employment position that supports Roxbury Community College home athletic events and day-to-day Athletics operations. Students assist with game-day preparation, event operations, scoreboard and game-clock functions, setup and breakdown, and other assigned Athletics support activities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the applicable placement period.
• Meet RCC Learn & Earn eligibility requirements for the approved placement.
• Maintain good academic standing and any enrollment requirements applicable to the placement.
• Complete all required student-employment, onboarding, and payroll documentation before beginning work.
• Work only the approved Learn & Earn schedule and duties assigned by the designated supervisor.
• Must be currently enrolled at RCC and meet the eligibility requirements for the assigned student employment funding source.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in an active event environment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with Athletics staff and other student employees.
• Ability to lift and move at least 10 pounds as required for assigned event-support tasks.
• Professional conduct and willingness to learn game-day procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and setup for RCC home athletic events.
• Operate the game clock and scoreboard after receiving appropriate training.
• Assist with assembly, breakdown, and organization of game-day equipment and event areas.
• Support Athletics office work and event preparation as assigned.
• Assist Athletics staff with other appropriate game-day duties.
• Provide welcoming and professional support to students, teams, staff, officials, and guests.
• Follow Athletics, Reggie Lewis Center, and RCC procedures while completing assigned duties.
• Report operational concerns, equipment issues, or situations requiring staff attention to the appropriate supervisor.
