About The Position

The Athletics Coordinator leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned staff, including creating work schedules, monitoring progress, and providing technical expertise. This role is responsible for coordinating and administering athletic leagues and programs, including establishing schedules, assigning facilities, and managing online registration. The position also involves maintaining an inventory of sports equipment and supplies, purchasing necessary items, and ensuring proper maintenance and storage. Additionally, the Athletics Coordinator recruits and supervises volunteer coaches and officials, ensures the preparation and maintenance of athletic fields and facilities, and performs general customer service and administrative duties. This includes responding to inquiries, attending meetings, answering phones, preparing reports, and managing documentation. The role requires communication with various stakeholders to coordinate activities and resolve problems. The Athletics Coordinator operates various equipment, including personal computers, golf carts, scoreboards, and field equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in recreation or athletics programming and administration.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned staff.
  • Coordinates and administers athletic leagues and programs.
  • Maintains inventory of sports equipment and supplies.
  • Recruits and supervises volunteer coaches and officials for athletic leagues and games.
  • Ensures the maintenance and preparation of athletic fields and facilities for assigned leagues and programs, race and special event rentals, and other activities as assigned.
  • Performs general customer service and administrative duties.
  • Processes various documentation related to department or division operations within designated timeframes and according to established procedures.
  • Communicates with supervisor, City employees, sports associations, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Operates a variety of equipment as needed to perform essential functions.
