About The Position

This internship offers a full immersion in athletic training services for Seattle Reign FC, a prominent professional women's soccer team in the NWSL. The intern will be involved in pre- and post-training treatments, rehabilitation programming and facilitation, training coverage, and serving on the match day stretcher crew. Documentation of injuries will also be a key responsibility. While the intern will not travel with the team, attendance at all home matches is expected. The student will work closely with professional athletes under the guidance of the Medical Director, Head and Assistant Athletic Trainers, applying current athletic training skills and seeking opportunities to learn new ones. Clinical questions and discussions are encouraged, and there may be opportunities to observe the team physician. Professionalism and maturity are expected at all times. This internship is designed to fulfill clinical credit requirements for a CAATE accredited program. The schedule will follow the team's schedule, which is subject to change, and will involve flexible hours, including weekends and late nights, averaging 30-35 hours per week. The internship ideally spans the NWSL season, with flexible start and end dates to accommodate program requirements. The intern must be enrolled in a CAATE accredited program for the entire duration of the internship.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Master of Science program; eligible for academic credit
  • Pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Athletic Training from CAATE accredited college or university.
  • Must be able to receive academic credit towards clinical educational requirement.
  • Affiliation agreement must be executed between University and Seattle Reign FC prior to start.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
  • Professional demeanor, punctual and reliable.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to pitch in to support team tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure situations.
  • CPR/BLS certified
  • Complete SafeSport training
  • Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
  • Must be able to facilitate own local travel.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
